Our History
Thorntree Intelligence was founded in the American Southwest by a former CIA analyst and Foreign Service Officer with a simple conviction: that professionals leaving the intelligence and diplomatic communities deserve better than a generic job search — and that the organizations hiring them deserve better than a keyword match. Thorntree Talent launched as the company's first service line, built in partnership with an experienced recruiting professional and fellow intelligence community veteran, on a network of former intelligence and national security professionals and a commitment to understanding what's actually behind a candidate's career.

Ansel Stein - Co-Founder and Managing Director
Ansel is a former CIA analyst and Foreign Service Officer with experience spanning intelligence tradecraft, executive analysis, and organizational leadership. After leaving government, he founded Thorntree Intelligence to bring the analytical rigor and professional standards of the intelligence and diplomatic communities to the private sector. He is currently enrolled in Stanford GSB's Emerging COO executive education program and is based in the American Southwest.
